In short: Shutterbox doesn’t collect any of your data. Your photos and videos stay on your device and in your own iCloud.
- No account
- No ads
- No tracking
- No servers of ours
What we collect
Nothing. Shutterbox has no servers of its own, no sign-up, and no advertising, analytics or tracking tools. Your photos, videos and how you use the app are never sent to us.
Scanning documents and making thumbnails all happen on your device.
Where your photos and videos are stored
Normally in Shutterbox’s own space on your device.
If you turn on iCloud Sync, they’re also stored in the iCloud of your Apple Account (Apple’s CloudKit private database). Only devices signed in to the same Apple Account can see them. We can’t.
- It uses your own iCloud storage.
- Deleting Shutterbox doesn’t delete its data from iCloud. To remove it, go to Settings › your name › iCloud › Storage on your iPhone, find Shutterbox and delete it.
Permissions the app uses
The app asks only when a feature needs it, and you can turn each one off anytime in Settings › Shutterbox.
| Permission | When it’s used |
|---|---|
| Camera | Taking photos and recording video |
| Microphone | Recording sound with video |
| Location (while using the app) | Only when Record Location is on, to save where a photo or video was taken |
| Add to Photos | Exporting to Photos, or when Also Save to Photos is on |
| Select photos | Importing. The app sees only the items you pick, never your whole library |
Location
Record Location is off by default. When it’s on, the place a photo or video was taken is saved in the file, and it goes along when you share the file.
When you view a photo’s info, the app sends its coordinates to Apple Maps to show you the place name.
Purchases and subscriptions
Apple handles all payments, so we never see your payment details. The app only learns from the App Store which plan you have and when it ends.
The signature on your membership card is stored only on your device.
Third-party services
Only Apple’s: iCloud, the App Store and Apple Maps. For how they handle data, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Children
Shutterbox doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes its data from your device. Delete Shutterbox’s data from iCloud too, and everything is gone. We keep no copies.
Changes to this policy
If anything changes, we’ll update this page and the effective date above.
